Whether the application is house waterproofing or any type of building waterproofing, there are a number of repair methods used by Alabama Foundation Specialists.

Drainage Systems

WaterGuard

Waterproofing Using WaterGuard Drainage SystemOne of Alabama Foundation Specialists' waterproofing methods is to utilize drainage systems that have withstood the test of time. Drainage along the perimeter of the slab allows water to be funneled away from your basement and out into the earth where it belongs.

Not only is this an effective method of waterproofing your basement, it also serves to help protect your foundation from settlement and your interior space from attracting mold and mildew.

Alabama Foundation Specialists utilize only the best waterproofing products. Basement Systems' WaterGuard ensures that your drainage system does not clog. Water enters the channel through holes on the wall side and streams down toward a Sump Pump or other drain.

DryTrak Basement Drainage System

Waterproofing Using DryTrak SystemAnother major problem that water presents to a home or building with a basement is hydrostatic pressure. That is, when the water table increases, the weight of the water pushes inward on the basement walls, often causing bowing and cracking. Alabama Foundation Specialists is equipped to repair bowing basement walls, but it's preferable to prevent this from ever occurring!

How does it work? A quick explanation: weep holes are drilled through the floor at the floor-wall joint, relieving hydrostatic pressure. A permanent seal is installed around the base of this joint, but this seal is actually a bowed-track that channels water to a sump-pump. This effectively relieves hydrostatic pressure and funnels water away from your foundation! This works with residential waterproofing and commercial waterproofing alike.

Alabama Foundation Specialists work in the greater Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Hoover, Bessemer, Anniston, Gadsden, Decatur, Madison, Florence, and Huntsville, AL areas, as well as Greater Columbus, GA, and all across central and northern Alabama.

Wet Basement Floors

Rotted Wood Basement FloorBasements without waterproofing are problem-bound. Even if your basement has been waterproofed, it is still prone to high-humidity. Water can also slowly seep through the porous concrete slab, leading many home owners to ask about concrete waterproofing. Carpeted basements often end up damp, musty, and moldy. To fix this problem, many folks opt to install wood subflooring. Not only do you lose a few inches of headroom in your basement, you are almost guaranteed to end up with rotted wood floors.

Basement Floor WaterproofingThe solution? Alabama Foundation Specialists install Basement Systems' ThermalDry Floor Matting system. This heavy-duty plastic subflooring is mold-free. Water won't ruin this flooring, vapors can't seep through it, and mold doesn't grow on it! Used in conjunction with good basement waterproofing, ThermalDry ensures that you will never again have to worry about rotted basement floors or damp musty carpet.

Sump Pumps

Sump pumps are most often used in conjunction with other drainage solutions as listed above. But what if a sump pump fails? What if the power goes out? What if water is collecting faster than your sump pump can remove it? All of these concerns are valid when waterproofing a basement or crawl space; this is exactly why Alabama Foundation Specialists offer the best waterproofing products including Zoeller sump pumps.

Alabama Foundation Specialists are trained to recommend the job-specific sump pump system that is sure to meet your needs. Check out our special page on the sump pump systems we use to keep a basement dry.

Dehumidifiers

Does your basement smell? Musty odors are caused by mold and mildew. Many people are also allergic to mold and mildew. If you remove moisture from your home, the mold and mildew can no longer survive. Dehumidifiers are one of the best solutions to this problem, especially if used in conjunction with other basement waterproofing methods. Check out our solution, the amazing SaniDry Dehumidification System.

Warranty for Basement Waterproofing Systems

This is only an example and does not imply or act as a warranty.

We feel that it is important that you understand the warranty, and especially to note that this is not a guarantee of a dry basement. Any contractor that makes this claim is being dishonest -- if this point is not clear, you can call the office or speak with your System Design Specialist about it. We warrant our state-of-the-art products and their installation.

The warranty for a Basement Systems' WaterGuard or DryTrak basement waterproofing system states that if water from the walls or floor wall joint passes through the perimeter water control system and onto the basement floor that Alabama Foundation Specialists will provide the additional labor and materials to fix the leak at no additional charge to the homeowner. This warranty applies to only the areas where the system is installed (it's one of the reasons why we always recommend a full perimeter system). The warranty is in effect for the lifetime of the structure from the date of installation.

Transferring the Warranty
The warranty may be transferred to future homeowners provided Alabama Foundation Specialists is notified within 30 days of the real estate transfer.

In addition, pump or power failure is possible, therefore this warranty is not a guarantee of a dry basement, as the scope of this work can not guarantee a dry basement in all circumstances. Your System Design Specialist will make recommendations that will help to statistically lower your chances of ever having water in your basement again. Listen to the recommendations and base your purchasing decisions on your tolerance of ever having a wet basement again. Products like the TripleSafe sump pump system are specifically designed to help lower chances that a pump or power failure will cause future flooding.

Some products, such as the sump pumps and SaniDry dehumidifiers, have their own manufacturer's warranties, which your System Design Specialist can explain to you. There is more to the warranty that you will get at the time of your Free Wet Basement Estimate and Inspection.
